VRay Procedural Snow Material - Maya 2024 VRay 6.2

Put together as a part of a demo for my students to explain the use of the VRay Bercon Noise node and Color Composite node in Maya Hypershade. The node network demonstrates how to build a convincing snow shader with multiple noise frequencies without the use of image textures.

Final quality render with light post processing. ACEScg rendering space.

It's important to set color management in Maya to the correct config profile to work with ACEScg rendering space using OCIO.

Standard output when using linear space for rendering an srgb transform. The colors coming from the hdri I used are noticeably more purple, which is in fact incorrect.

The same test image, but using ACEScg rendering space with an SDR transform lut to display the output on an srgb monitor. Notice despite the low render settings there's more life like color
